Summary of Position:

Through its market-leading financial management solution, VisitPay is using data, analytics and software to address the growing need to help consumers deal with massive increases in out-of-pocket medical expenses.  We are seeking a Director, Analytics and Decision Science to join our Analytics and Client Performance team.  He or she is a proven analytical problem solver who can bring definition to unstructured problems, be hands on with Python, R, SQL and other analysis tools, and lead and develop analysts and data scientists.   He or she will own and lead projects and strategies that deliver increased profitability and increased patient satisfaction for our clients and for VisitPay.   He or she is driven and willing to put in the extra time and effort required to drive the success of a growth company, yet also values and enjoys the flexible, casual environment we afford.


Core skills include understanding and identifying key business questions and opportunities, developing analysis plans, and building and deploying machine learning based models in a data-intensive environment.  He/she should also be facile with delivering clear and crisp communication and recommendations to executives and clients, and leading/championing cross-functional efforts. 


Key Activities:

  • Product Optimization & Solution Development – Drive VisitPay and client profitability and patient satisfaction by creating industry-leading approaches to segmentation, testing, and analytics and implementing & optimizing client facing configurations, segmentations and strategies. 
  • Data & Model Development - Understand, collect and transform requisite data; build and/or supervise construction of statistical models; assess quality and performance with appropriate downstream monitoring; ensure regulatory compliance and direct internal resources where applicable.
  • Business Performance & Reporting – Assess and report on performance of products and services for clients and the business; recommend and drive improvements and changes; help drive the development and improvement of the analytic environment and reporting over time
  • Product Development – Support the product team, product development, and product roadmap by assessing feature importance, effectiveness, and satisfaction and making recommendations for new features
  • Team Leadership & Development – Hire, train, evaluate, develop, and manage the work of the data science team and business analysts

  • Is a proven, hands and decision scientist with a track record of driving results in a credit/financial or similar environment

  • BA/BS in a quantitative field of study such as mathematics, economics, physics or industrial engineering
  • Advanced degree in Decision Science or related field
  • Minimum 6 yrs experience in a demanding analytic environment with a high bar for analysis quality; track record of delivering results and driving impact
  • Minimum 4 yrs experience as analytical leader, data scientist or statistician in a commercial setting
  • 2+ years managing direct reports, including hiring, mentoring, firing and project management
  • Demonstrated experience building a high performing analytics team including hiring, development, mentoring, and performance management
  • Demonstrated experience with excel and building excel models
  • Proficiency in R, SAS, Python or similar statistical programming package
  • Proficiency in SQL
